Swimming in ice cold lake

December swimmers 2
                       December swim

Michael MacDonald and Alice Bowers had a chilly December dip on a beautiful winters day. Topher, who took the pictures, nearly joined them but only because he slipped on the icy jetty whilst holding his phone aloft!

A beautiful, still day at Lochend.

You could always consider sitting here...

The wild storms didn't directly do damage to the buildings at Lochend but two separate leaks appeared and now...I'm VERY glad to say...have been fixed. Go Bobby (camera shy) and Andy!

Happy New Year!!

Woooof! Wild start to the year with winds of up to 95 mph pushing spray across the Lake and without power for 6 hours yesterday but our remaining New Year customers have been very understanding, particularily our customers from the Maldives; here to let their daughter see snow, so will have to travel up to Glencoe, but not today as they are still in the midst of howling winds. The old willow at the side of No.1 sucumbed, along with many others round the lakeside road.

January storm damage

Of course, whilst we dislike all this wet weather, the ducks are in heaven!

HAPPY NEW YEAR from Arnie and his pals...and all of us here at Lochend.

Otters

The Campbell family who were staying in Heron last week reported an otter swimming in the lake very close to the shore.

September sunshine

Whilst the south part of Britain in enveloped in a heat wave, we are very grateful to see September sun and feel the warmth on our backs - our rowers think they may have to put on a little lotion after their trip!

Tartastic!

Having sustained some serious snow and ice damage last winter, our drive, as many of our understanding customers have already endured, was pretty potholed and breaking up. On top of that, with the recent rain, we finally felt we should face up to the fact that some of the Victorian field drains just didn't work anymore so a double-dunt over the past few days, Ian and Davie hurriedly sorted drains as the Tar guys appeared in behind to start the road....it should all be done by this afternoon. Yippee...just in time for shovelling lots of snow this winter??! Watch this space.

But after the rain comes the sun giving you a magical misty morning

Wee bitty decorating

With a free week in the Pine Lodge we've started stage 1 of some decoration, stage 2 won't happen until November. Never one to hold back Andy Rae got stuck in - he's a bit camera shy though! And I discovered the joys of black bin bag coverings! Will post newly decorated interior photos next week.

Pine Lodge decorating

With 'an empty' Topher was able to continue our WiFi saga! we'll get there - soon I hope.
