MAKE YOUR HOLIDAY AN EXPERIENCE
Lochend lies almost exactly slap bang in the middle of Scotland, so it is a brilliant base for exploring the rest of Scotland – which is, we think, the most beautiful country in the world. It may feel wonderfully remote once you’re here: nothing but swans, ducks and fishing boats to disturb your view across the lake to Ben Lomond and the Menteith Hills. But Lochend is only one hour from Edinburgh and Glasgow, 75 minutes from the awe-inspiring scenery of Glencoe, and only minutes from a myriad of local Trosscahs lochs and bens, golf courses and biking trails, castles and distilleries within Loch Lomond & The Trossachs National Park. So, if you want to really experience Scotland, this is a great base to do it from.
MAKE MEMORIES THAT LAST
Whether it’s your first time here or your 40th (some of our guests have been coming here since they were kids), we hope you’ll find inspiration on this page for things to do here at Lochend Chalets, our beautiful, 38-acre estate at the heart of the Loch Lomond and Trosscahs National Park, as well as further afield.
WHAT CAN YOU DO AND WHERE CAN YOU GO?
Lochend may be a great base for exploring the Trossachs, the East Neuk of Fife coastal towns and the west coast Highlands & Islands – but there is a huge amount to do right here on the estate, without even getting in the car. For many guests, Lochend isn’t just somewhere to stay, it’s somewhere to be.
The lake dominates life here: it’s right outside your window whichever chalet, cabin and lodge you pick. So, whether you’re sipping a glass of wine and watching the sun go down over the Menteith Hills, picnicking on the shore, or heading out in our fishing or rowing boat, or even splashing about in your Speedos, the lake offers a huge amount of fun. We also have a tennis court, games room, and mini bike park.
Lochend lies at the quiet southeastern corner of Loch Lomond & The Trossachs National Park, a spectacular 720-square mile pocket of loch, glen and ben centred around Loch Lomond at its heart. Sometimes called the Highlands in Miniature, our national park has a wild and dramatic feel, with some beautiful big mountains, but is also relatively compact. And, as remote as Lochend feels as you stare from your chalet across the lake to Ben Lomond, we’re within half an hour of an array of castles and distilleries, golf courses and well equipped villages with cafes, the city of Stirling and foodie pubs and shops.
Lying almost slap bang in the middle of Scotland, Lochend Chalets is an ideal base for exploring the best of Scotland – the list of things to do within a daytrip of Lochend is almost endless. Within a two-hour drive you can be walking up Ben Nevis, sipping single malt whiskies in Speyside, skiing in Glencoe, mountain-biking down a World Cup trail, or playing golf at some of the best golf courses in Britain, including St Andrews.
Because Lochend Chalets is right at the centre of Scotland, it's a brilliant base for day trips to some brilliant and beautiful Scottish cities and scenery. We're only 30 minutes from Loch Lomond and 60 minutes from Glasgow, Edinburgh and Perth. Dramatic Highland scenery more your thing? Then Glencoe is only 90 minutes north, while the East Coast’s pretty, pastel-hued seaside villages and sandy beaches and the West Coast’s magical wild isles are never more than a couple of hours away – well within a day trip of Lochend Chalets.
