TOURING DAYS  FROM LOCHEND CHALETS

Because Lochend Chalets is right at the centre of Scotland, it’s a brilliant base for touring days to some beautiful Scottish cities and scenery. We're only 30 minutes from Loch Lomond and 60 minutes from Glasgow, Edinburgh and Perth. Dramatic Highland scenery more your thing? Then Glencoe is only 90 minutes north, while the East Coast’s pretty, pastel-hued seaside villages and sandy beaches and the West Coast’s magical wild isles are never more than a couple of hours away – well within a day trip of Lochend Chalets.

EDINBURGH

Where to start? First, perhaps, by saying that while Lochend feels incredibly secluded, in fact, we’re only about 75 mins from the Royal Mile by car. Alternatively, hop on the train from Dunblane or Stirling to Waverly Station for a leisurely touring day by rail.

LOCH LOMOND

The famous bonny banks lie only 30 mins drive from Lochend Chalets, offering an ideal family day trip: beautiful walks, magnificent scenery and at its southern shore by Balloch, a shopping and lesuire complex with resturants, visitor centre, cruise tours and an aquarium.

EAST COAST

While the West Coast has a wild, wind-lashed beauty and a string of magical islands, the East Coast wins when it comes to cute fishing villages and bucket-and-spade seaside towns – with no midges, even in summer: touring days in Scotland at their best.

WEST COAST

We’re only 90 mins from Glencoe, and 2 hours from Fort William and Oban - gateway to the isles. With the Isle of Mull only a 45-min ferry from Oban, that means even the most dramatic Highland & Island scenery is reachable on a day trip from Lochend.

GLASGOW

It always amazes me that while you sit by the Lake of Menteith at Lochend, you’re actually less than an hour from the centre of Scotland’s biggest city, or just over an hour if you drive to Milngavie and get the train from there.

PERTH

Only about an hour from Lochend, Perth has lovely galleries, a handsome semi-pedestrianised centre with great shops and cafes, and as a motivator for the kids, a brilliant swimming pool with flumes.

STIRLING

Stirling, 20 minutes' away, feels more like a town than a city, with cinemas, leisure centre, pretty pedestrianised centre and a cluster of old medieval lanes by the magnficent castle that dominates the skyline as you approach. And don't miss climbing up the Wallace monument, nearby.

OBAN

The pretty bustling harbour town of Oban is a very lovely 2 and a bit hours' drive from Lochend. Passing by the Green Wellie Stop and the Gold Mine at Tyndrum then skirting round the edge of the beautiful Loch Awe.
