They run craft workshops, farm tours, and serve great food at pop-up events. Their latest offering is delicious wild pizza nights, and fancier long-table dinners cooked on an open fire, which you can book via their sister business page Fodder & Farm.
What else is there to do at Gartur Farm?
What is on offer changes with the seasons. It ranges from courses on foraging, painting, soap-making, crochet and photography, to meet-the-goat tours. Other times there are sessions with Kat that are hands-on how-to-make-sourdough mornings, or natural wool-dying demos. As well as being a wonderful grower, animal keeper and sustainability and local food supporter, Kat is also a master
crochet-whizz. She also writes a newsletter and cook books. It’s a hard task to pin Gartur Stitch Farm down, because they’re always coming up with something wonderful and new. Your best option is to have a good look at their website, to see what’s happening during your visit to Lochend Chalets. One thing is for sure, we can heartily recommend a wild sourdough pizza topped with foraged and home-grown delicious ingredients. Think wild mushrooms, goat curd, herbs, or something from a Scottish producer like wild venison salami from Great Glen Charcuterie. There’s usually a side of goat cuddles on offer, too, if you’re game. The summertime long-table dinners have Lucy Pattinson – adventure cook – at the helm. She makes imaginative and excellent meals, again using local, homegrown, and foraged ingredients. The whole place is endearing, inspiring and fun. They also sell a few things in their small on-site shop: handmade soap, cute enamel mugs, local honey, and so-on.
