Cormorant is the Lodge we have dreamed of creating and now it is finally finished. It has been a labour of love but the end product is unrivalled. The location, the style, the interior and the Lochend magic make it a house like no other.
During the build the costs soared and the completion date seemed to be always out of touch, every day we expected Kevin McLeod to pop up and quiz us. But now we are finished and boy are we HAPPY. It is everything we had hoped for and something we don’t think you will find anywhere else. It’s for guests who would like an experience like no other. No matter what the weather does, when you are in this lodge the world will be a better place.

“Luxurious self-catering by the Lake of Menteith”
No more than 15 metres back from the lake, Cormorant is a two-storey “A” Frame Chalet with stunning picture window views from the open-plan kitchen and lounge – and upstairs bedroom – over the Lake of Menteith.
Cormorant is our beautiful modernist box. It lies at the edge of our estate, with frontage to the lake on one side and the Goodie Burn on the other offering its own private and unique setting. It has 5 meter high windows and a cantilevered viewing lounge. The views are spectacular both inside and out.
Cormorant has 3 bedrooms all with en-suite bathrooms. The upstairs bedroom is wonderfully spacious and the stunning ensuite has a large bath and steam room/shower. Downstairs we have two more bedrooms one with full disabled access.
In the burn next to the lodge is a eel trap where we used to catch many eels when they migrated in winter. Sadly now eel numbers have depleted but, in keeping with the theme, Victoria spent many hours designing the interior around a beautiful Timorous beasties wall paper depicting eels. The picture tells a better story than words. Throughout the house you will find pieces of Chris Carrolls wonderful sculpted pieces of Lochend grown wood, from egg cups to clocks and handles.
Outside there is a fantastic private, completely secluded grassy area next to the burn with a hot tub & fire pit.
Fire pit includes a bag of logs. More are available from reception at £10 per bag if required.
The Kitchen is produced by German company Schuller. The bright mustard units are full of everything you need. Oven, Hob, Fridge Freezer, micro wave, washer dryer, “Quooker” hot tap, toaster, Nespresso machine and everything you would require to cook a delicious meal.
On the ground floor we have a L shaped sofa for 6, where you can drink in the Lake view or the Goodie burn. And if you fancy watching your favourite program we have a smart Samsung TV.
We have a lovely Jaspar Conran table and chairs and the kitchen splash back is mirrored so you always have a lovely view of The lake and Ben Lomond whilst cooking and dining.
The cantilevered mezzanine allows you to relax on the sofa, take in more stunning views or play chess on a board crafted from Lochend Elm by Cooper - following in his dads footsteps. Or those inclined could just read their phone, connected to our free wifi.
The upstairs bedroom is wonderfully spacious, allowing for a sofa, table and chairs and still loads more room. The stunning ensuite has a large bath and steam room/shower.
Downstairs we have two more bedrooms with zip and link beds for double/twin sleeping. one with disabled access. Both have lovely ensuites.
The bathrooms are equipped with wickedly expensive Axor Hansghroe showers and taps.
The tiles are Italian and hand selected to fit with the decor. The upstairs bathroom has a Phillip Stark loo
The Lodge is completely private and a fence with gate disconnects it from the rest of the estate. There is room for at least 4 cars.
Egyptian cotton bed linen, robes, indoor & outdoor towels, and crocs for outside.
Tea towels, eco cleaning products, and all heating and electricity are included in the price of your stay. Also, on arrival, you will find fair-trade tea, coffee and sugar in your accommodation, as well as salt, pepper, milk and Tunnock’s treats plus a few pods for the Nespresso machine.
The patio facing the lake has a 6 seater outside dining table and chairs
On the burn side is a hot tub, firepit and one bag of logs. More logs are availbale from reception for £10 per bag.

Cormorant is on the Lochend Estate and is the last building secluded by a Gorse hedge, Lake, burn and fence making it totally private.
We have just enjoyed an amazing weekend, 6 sisters spending time together instead of buying each other b'day gifts throughout the year. The Cormorant is stunning. Beautifully decorated with lots of luxurious touches and stunning views from every angle. We instantly felt able to relax and enjoy the accommodation and hot tub. Dinner at Nick Nairn's restaurant was the icing on the cake, delicious food in a wonderful setting with a great gift shop, only a short walk away.
The weather was a bit more variable this time but did not stop us getting out and about. We did our usual range of activities while there - a cycle along the excellent and scenic cycle path along Loch Venacher with a stop-off for a coffee and superb scone at the Brig O Turk tearoom halfway. A walk to the Brackinn Falls in Callendar then up the glen path to the Scout Pool and back down. And 3 paddle board sessions directly from the chalets on Lake of Menteith. On the early morning outing there were geese taking off, divers dookin for fish and fish jumping out the water. You can visit and land on Inchmahome (entry fee required). The new jetty is a welcome addition - I have never paddle boarded before - getting on and off - without even getting my feet wet!!
Lochend is owned and run by the Nairn family who have very strong commitment to ecological issues and recycling which is clear in how they operate. The 20+ ducks who come looking for food as soon as you open your door gives you an added sense of being close to nature!
Also having brother’s (Nick Nairn) restaurant and cook school on site is a real bonus and once again we had our dinner there on Saturday night. Food and staff always excellent and the discount for chalet guests a nice bonus.
It has been and will continue to be a favourite place of our for a peaceful break in a perfect setting.
Absolutely fantastic location, stayed in chalet no 9. Chalet was superb, very clean and has everything you need at hand. Staff where really friendly and informative from start to finish, I would greatly recommend this place , spectacular scenery.

We came back after nine years and it is still as lovely as it was then. There are 10 chalets with 2 bedrooms, very cosy, well-equipped with a little porch and BBQs. You have a wonderful view of the lake and it is very peacefull. I went swimming once despite the cold.The hosts are really friendly and helpful and there are a lot of things to do nearby, noteably Inchmahome Priory, only about 5 minutes'drive away.
I am sure we will come again.
We LOVE Lochend Chalets! Unbelievable location directly on the lake shore, the accommodation is beautifully kitted out and is ideal for family holidays/celebrstions. Stargazing was particularly good this year!
Where do I start. From the very beginning we had a very warm welcome. The chalet was beautiful. Nicely decorated and has everything that you could wish for. The view was amazing and it was so peaceful. Best nights sleep we have had for ages. We were very impressed. so much so that we will be booking again for next year.To end our stay on the last night we had a gorgeous meal at NICK s restaurant .

This was our second visit to Lochend Chalets this year. The first one, in June, was wonderful, so my wife and I booked another one, but for a longer time at eleven nights.It was lovely to be back in a homely, comfortable chalet with delightful scenery all around us.
A bonus is that no pets are allowed here, which is a good idea as there is lots of wildlife around and I would not like to see it scared away.
We booked the “Widgeon and Nest” as a family get together to celebrate my husband and I’s anniversary. We took our children aged between 5 and 22.
We followed the directions online and it was very easy to find. Great communication with the hosts on lead up to our stay.
Driving through the grounds were absolutely beautiful as we are heading into autumn.
The young girl on reception was lovely when we arrived slightly ahead of schedule and directed us to our accommodation.
We were totally blown away by the accommodations itself. Beautiful, clean, spacious, modern and with everything needed for our group.
Each room had its own advantages/quirks so no fighting over who stayed where - ha!
THE VIEWS!!! Absolutely stunning, especially waking up in the nest and watching the scenery change or sitting on the decking in the morning.
We booked Lochend chalets because as a family we love being in or on the water and also wanted to do some hiking.
We had a mixture of weather and it was so great to have a hot tub/ hot shower or the sauna a stones throw away from the lake.
Strangely one of the family’s favourite parts of the accommodation was the outdoor changing facility- if you go, you’ll know! Oh yes, and the ducks!! My 5 year old particularly loved them.
Games room and park were fun additions too.
The host was never far away if we needed help - and gave me some great tips for going out on the lake - but wasn’t intrusive at all.
The fishery isn’t far so we did get the boats pretty close to the accommodation and a couple of men walking past the front but we chatted with a few of them, it didn’t bother us and we like seeing everyone enjoying the outdoors.
We had one night where the weather was beautiful right through and we had our fire pit s’mores and a hand fasting celebration to mark our anniversary. The place couldn’t have been more perfect for it.
On leaving we forgot a couple of small items, when they called to tell me, we were already too far away and said they would send me them.
They arrived at my house less than 24 hours later! what service!
Value for money on facility and location, I don’t think you could get a place to match this.

Lochend chalets made a friends reunion extra special because of its perfect location and beautiful surroundings. The hosts made us all very welcome, and our chalet fully equipped and beautifully decorated
A first visit but will not be the last. We stayed in Osprey Lodge right on the Lake and what an amazing spot and the view was to die for especially from the hot tub. All the staff on site were so nice and helpful. Th accommodation was spotless and very well furnished and equipped. The added bonus of having a first class restaurant, Nicks, on site was excellent.
We were back at Lochend once again for the September long weekend. We were in a Log Cabin again but got a tour of the new chalet which is stunning - will need to round up the extended family and make a return visit. However all the accommodation is homely, well equipped and comfortable and the staff do go out their way to make you feel at home.
