TEAL LODGE
Scandi-Scot style lakeside self-catering lodge for 6 with fire-table at Lochend Chalets

Teal is one of the Waterfront Lodges that we’ve extended towards the lake for even bigger and better views over the water to Ben Lomond through outsize glazed sliding doors. It sits between Mallard and Widgeon & The Nest right on the shore. While attached, all three have private patios separated with greenery. Sip a drink while sitting round the eco fire-table, and watch the sun dip over the Menteith Hills.

“Waterfront lodges right on the Lake of Menteith”
Our three Waterfront Lodges – Widgeon, Teal and Mallard – have all been extended towards the lake with huge glass sliding doors showing of the spectacular view over the lake toward Ben Lomond and the Menteith Hills.
Teal is one of our three Waterfront Lodges (along with Mallard and Widgeon & The Nest, either side), which each sleep 6 guests in 3 bedrooms. They’re attached in a group of three, with Teal in the middle. Each has a fully separated private patio area, divided with greenery.
Inside, 2-storey open-plan Teal lodge offers stylish Scandi-Scot design touches and cosy comfort. All our accommodation is individually furnished with handpicked colours, handmade wooden details by my husband Chris, and unique lamps, rugs, artworks and photography that I’ve chosen to suit each lodge. Teal has subtle neutral colours with splashes of sunshine yellow, including a giant photo of Lochend’s golden-centred poached-egg plant (official name limanthes douglasii) and bright cushions. Chris made the sycamore-topped dining table for 6 and also the oak bed, upstairs.
Teal lodge has been extended out towards the lake, and fitted with huge floor-to-ceiling sliding glass doors to bring the beautiful outside in, flooding the lounge with the tranquil lake and mountain scene. It’s hard to imagine a better view from any self-catering accommodation in Scotland.
Teal’s patio, laid with Scottish Bannockburn Whin stone has a picnic table and chairs, and a unique sunken firepit seating area, ideal for toasting marshmallows into the evening. You’re just a couple of meters from the water’s edge where the Lochend clan of friendly ducks quack away happily. We can supply duck food if you want to make friends with them.
You’ll also find a Nespresso machine and all mod cons in the kitchen, and a rejuvenating Jacuzzi bath in the downstairs bathroom, plus shower and loo upstairs. For a truly refreshing experience, however, feel free to dive into the lake!
Teal lodge has a brand-new modern kitchen, as part of the open-plan design – so you’re connected with the wonderful view at all times. It features sheepskin-covered bar stools beside the swish kitchen island, and unit handles crafted by Chris from a beech tree that once stood by the lake. A funky toaster, kettle, Nespresso machine, cafetiere, scales and hand blender are all provided. A large fridge/freezer, hide-away recycling, dishwasher, oven and microwave are all integrated and the hob has an extractor fan. You’ll find all the utensils and pots and pans you need for your group of up to 6.
The washing machine and Victorian pulley are hidden away in a wee laundry cupboard/drying room.
Teal lodge, and all three Waterfront Lodges now have a luxurious and light open-plan space for living and dining, overlooking the lake, through large panoramic windows. There’s a corner sofa, large wall mounted flat-screen TV, UE Bluetooth speaker for use inside and a sycamore topped dining table, handmade by my husband Chris.
It’s the perfect relaxing space for a group of 6, with plenty of spots to sit and enjoy the view – whether at the sheepskin-covered stools at the kitchen island, or the comfy sofa by the windows, or the wee 2-seater reading sofa, set back by the stairs.
Teal lodge has 3 bedrooms: a downstairs twin, an upstairs Kingsize double, and another upstairs double with super-Kingsize ‘zip and link’ bed, which can be changed to two full-sized singles if requested.
The downstairs twin features modern tartan carpets and wee splashes of art that have caught my eye. Upstairs, the woodland-view back bedroom has an en-suite shower and loo; the front bedroom has a large flat-screen TV and long views over the water to Ben Lomond.
Beds are all made up with fresh high-quality Egyptian cotton linen for your arrival.
There are two bathrooms. The downstairs one has a Jacuzzi bath. Upstairs, there is an en-suite shower room with loo and sink.
Bathrooms come with our favourite Arran Aromatics shower gel and body lotion.
There are spaces for 1-2 cars at the back Teal lodge. Let us know if you need more space.
Egyptian cotton bed linen, towels, tea towels, eco cleaning products, washing/dishwasher powder and all heating and electricity is included in the price of your stay.
Also, on arrival, you will find fair-trade tea, coffee and sugar in your accommodation, as well as salt, pepper, milk, Tunnock’s treats and a few coffee pods for the Nespresso machine.
An optional ‘End of Stay Clean’ for Teal lodge, which is a Waterfront Lodge, costs £60.
Ask us about this when you book.
