LOCHEND'S FRIENDLY FEATHERED FRIENDS
Visitors to Lochend will already be familiar with our resident celebrities: the friendly Mallard ducks who waddle over the moment they spot someone with a snack. They adore being fed by our guests, and you can pick up duck and wee birdy food from reception during the day. If you’re out exploring after hours, there’s an honesty box just outside the office where you can help yourself
Lochend is also home to a whole chorus of smaller feathered neighbours. We keep bags of bird seed available so you can treat the many species that flit around the grounds. You’ll spot (and definitely hear) confident Robins, speedy Blue Tits, the distinctive tap of a Eurasian Nuthatch, tiny but bold Wrens, glossy Blackbirds, cheerful Chaffinches, and plenty more. If you’re staying in one of the log cabins, you’ll find bird feeders right on your patio, giving you a front‑row seat to the daily birdy bustle as you sip your morning coffee.
