THE LODGE TROSSACHS VISITOR CENTRE IN THE QUEEN ELIZABETH FOREST PARK
Less than 15 minutes from Lochend, The Lodge is the Forestry Commission’s flagship Trossachs visitor centre, and a place we’ve been going to as a family for years. It’s somewhere our guests really love.
Cafe, gift shop, GoApe adventure course and walks galore
The Lodge visitor centre itself has a whole room dedicated to wildlife in the Trossachs, with webcams to several local osprey nests, and RSPB officers on hand to answer any questions. There is also a great, wee gift shop and cafe, with wraparound picture windows looking out over the forest, as well as outdoor seating for sunny days.
Outside, a world of exploration awaits, with miles and miles of waymarked trails through the forest (the one-hour climb to the top of Lime Craig via the waterfall and red squirrel hide is our favourite), as well as a couple of fun natural play areas (den-building, playing with dams), and Scotland's first ever GoApe high-ropes adventure course, which includes two spectacular 400m-long zipwires over the dramatic Little Fawn waterfall.
